Bungalow Homes Wins AGAIN at the NSW HIA Housing Awards!

For a SECOND TIME, Bungalow Homes have been named the winner at the NSW HIA Housing Awards, securing the winning project for the Affordable Housing category in 2022.

We had nominated 3 projects for this years awards, and were so lucky to have all 3 named as finalists for our category which is a great testament to the design and build quality we offer. All 3 of our nominations showcased very different styles including Hamptons, Coastal and Heritage.

The winning project located in Epping boasted heritage charm with modern conveniences, in keeping with the area’s historical architectecture.

The design included an L-shape floorplan to allow for more interest and better use of internal space, and exposed timber beams internally and externally on the eaves. The huge pitch of the roof gives an enormous feeling of space inside with the cathedral ceilings lined with V-groove boards for additional interest.

This also added to the challenges of construction. The rafters and the ridge beam had to be carefully engineered to ensure they would be able to support the weight of the tiles on the roof across a large span.

Recycled bricks were used externally to maintain the heritage look with a dark colour scheme, but combined with modern features including an aluminium raked window. 

Recycled timber hardwood post was also installed as a feature externally, with hardwood timber flooring featured throughout. 

The end result is a timeless home, with heritage charm and modern, practical conveniences, drenched in light and a feeling of airiness, and also a priceless way to keep your family close by.

A select few were able to attend the Awards Night in October at the Convention Center in Sydney where our hard work was recognised on the night.
